FRANCHISE MARKETING ON THE GOLD COAST

Franchise marketing for the Coast,
not for the ocean.

The Gold Coast is a long strip of suburbs between the surf and the hinterland, cut up by canals and swung around by the holiday calendar. It is close to the worst possible geometry for radius targeting. This page covers what a franchise marketing platform does for a Gold Coast network, with measured Queensland numbers.

The short version

One platform, every store on the strip.

Amplaro is a digital franchise marketing platform: head office builds local campaigns once, and every Gold Coast franchise partner activates them for their own store, targeted to that store's real trade area rather than a circle that is half ocean. The partner picks a campaign, a budget and a date. The brand, the artwork and the spend limits are already locked by head office.

The general version of this page is what a franchise marketing platform is. This one is about what changes on the Coast: the strip, the canals, and a trading year that moves with the holidays.

Gold Coast geography

A circle on the beach starts half wasted.

Centre a radius on a beachside store and its eastern half is surf. Push it inland and it climbs into the hinterland past anywhere the store serves. In between, the canal estates cut the suburbs into fingers where across the water can mean twenty minutes by road. The strip is a shape, and a circle is the wrong one.

We measured what circles do to real suburb shapes on 150 zones built from official Queensland boundaries, using the same engine that plans real campaigns. The full method is on the zone benchmark.

63.9% outside

The median share of a covering circle that lands outside the zone it is meant to serve, on Queensland zones. Nearly two thirds of the area, and the budget follows the area.

11.5% outside

The same number for Amplaro's fitted Meta targeting, at a median 92.7% of the zone covered, from a median of 5 fitted circles per zone.

39 of 150

Queensland zones where a fixed 3 kilometre radius also misses 13% or more of the zone itself. On a narrow strip, that miss rate climbs further still.

Fitted Google targeting on the same Queensland zones: a median 10.4% outside at 92% coverage. The plain-language version of the problem is radius vs delivery zone, and the mechanics are on zones into ad audiences.

Built for the strip

Seasons, tourists and locals in one plan.

Gold Coast trade breathes with the calendar: school holidays, events, the northern winter. A store's campaigns need to change with it, without a re-brief every time, and without the brand drifting while everyone moves fast.

Switch with the season

Head office builds the peak package and the quiet package in advance. Partners switch in minutes, budgets flex inside limits, and nothing needs a new approval loop.

Locals are the base load

Tourists surge, locals sustain. Fitted trade areas keep the everyday budget on the residential streets behind the store, where the repeat customers live.

Every sector covered

The sector versions of this page start at franchise industries, from restaurants and QSR to gyms and fitness.

Head office country

A brand team on the Coast, stores anywhere.

The Gold Coast has long been a base for franchise head offices, and the platform is built for exactly that shape. Build the campaign packages from the Coast: artwork in the brand font, offers, budgets, dates, guardrails. Every store in the network, here or interstate, activates them locally with its own fitted trade area, and the guardrails hold without anyone chasing.

Head office sees every campaign, every store and every dollar, including the stores that have launched nothing. The full flow is on how it works, and the network rollout playbook is on rolling out.

Common questions

Gold Coast networks ask these.

What does a radius do on a beachside store?

Half of it is ocean. A circle centred on a store in Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach or Burleigh spends its eastern half over water, so the real budget lands on half the intended area before the targeting has even started being wrong on land. On a coastal strip, a radius starts at fifty percent waste and gets worse from there.

How does zone targeting handle the canals?

The canal estates chop the map into fingers of land where two homes can be close across the water and a long drive apart by road. A fitted polygon follows the streets people actually drive, so a store's audience matches its real reach rather than straight-line distance. This is the same reason circles fail on Queensland zones generally, measured on 150 of them in our benchmark.

Our trade swings with the seasons and school holidays. Can campaigns keep up?

Yes. Head office can build the holiday package and the quiet-season package in advance, and partners switch between them in minutes rather than re-briefing an agency. Budgets flex inside limits head office sets, so a store can lean into the holiday peak and pull back after, with every change visible in the reporting.

Plenty of franchise brands run their whole network from the Gold Coast. Does Amplaro suit a head office here?

Yes. The Gold Coast has long been a base for franchise head offices, and the platform is built for exactly that shape: a brand team in one place, stores anywhere. Head office builds the packages from the Coast and every store in the network activates them locally, with the Queensland zones in our benchmark as the nearest measured evidence.
